Jay lived in a small 100 square foot home for 5 years until he got married and had a child, they only recently upgraded to a 500 square foot condo. Jay believes that small homes make for a simpler life but more importantly a less expensive life. With 2.8 million defaulted mortgages in the USA last year it seems that less expensive homes is something we absolutely need.

Jay's website http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/ plans for small abodes along with the option to have pre-built homes built and sent to you. Apparently if your dwelling is less than 120 square feet you avoid most cities zoning rules. I could picture a little 100 square foot dwelling in our backyard, the perfect home office? Guest room? Play house for the kids?
Ranging from $14,0000.00 to $50,000.00 Jay's homes offer an affordable option to the housing crisis. A small home may sound intimidating but just think of the savings in utilities, taxes, mortgage payments. Think about how quickly you could tidy your house?
I promptly bought a copy of Jay's book, available through his website exclusively. Who knows maybe my future cabin will be in the book. Mind you with three dogs, kids and a husband...I may end up in a cabin all by myself.
