After 7 weeks of brutal renovations it was thrilling to welcome our first customers. It was so exciting to be able to show and sell the beautiful antiques that I have been collecting on my trips to Europe and to share some great lines made right here in Canada. We have worked hard to find small independent lines to carry in our store. Things that are made with love and care and often by hand.
We have new things coming in next week and with a bit of luck our re-upholstered antique furniture will arrive. I will post pictures as things come in.
Since all the ugly is gone I can share some of our before shots, I think it is fair to say that it is a dramatic before and after.
What we started with, note the cinder block walls...
Purple and green, an interesting choice for a bathroom.
Demolition began... and went on and on
We decided to paint the exterior on the hottest day of the year, Francesca Black. Love the colour!
Things started to turn around when the walls were framed, we still had a long way to go.
We quickly discovered that since we were in an older building drywalling our ceiling wasn't an option. Which ceiling tile to choose, nope none of these.
We chose this pretty fleur de lis pattern, and yes we had to paint all the strapping to match.
My amazing mother spent three days taping out these stripes, we learned that you need an outstanding magnetic level, lot's of tape and a whole lot of patience. Thanks mom!
Can you believe this is the day before we opened?
The Big Reveal!
The bathroom is not yet perfect, when it's picture perfect I promise to share pics.
A big thank you to my amazing husband who has toiled away every single night making my store beautiful. My amazing parents who have been by my side each step, from painting, tiling or running to Home Depot for 8th time that day they have been there. I could not have done this without my families support.
