This made me realize, as I eyed her jealously, that I basically fall out of bed each morning and hit the ground running. And I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing.
|Typing an email with my little guy in a Baby Bjorn|
I am my own worst enemy, seriously it true. Nobody forced me to go back to work with a two week old, in fact I'm pretty sure most people suggested I take more time away. That said when you own your own business working is a necessity.
|Yep that's my little guy in my lap|
After a visit to the church of mum (aka a coffee date with my amazing mum) I decided it was time for a change. So here it goes.
1 - I'm taking one entire week off, you heard me 7 days away!
2 - I will charge my phone in the kitchen so it is not the last thing I check at night or the first thing I check in the morning.
3 - My phone does not need to go everywhere with me - it is not an appendage those emails can wait until I'm done feeding my son.
4 - I'm going to create a lovely workspace - my couch is not working for me.
Lastly and this one is tough…
5 - I'm going to set some hard and fast work hours. This means when I'm working I'm not trying to balance a baby on my hip and when I'm not working my little has all of my attention.
These are goals, I'm well aware some days I will fail but I'm giving myself the permission to try.
It took me 5 long months to get here and I'm sure it will take me even longer to figure this out but I'm going to try.
I'm all ears if you guys have any wise words.
For the record I'm writing this while pumping...
