As I look at my photos, I wish they were of better quality. My husband has an old SLR camera but it is so big and heavy I'm looking for something lighter to carry around to capture all those cute moments.
The things that are important to me are:
- Size and weight
- Usability - I'm not exactly a pro
Here are the front runners, I'm totally open to any advice you may have!
This is a budget friendly option, with a whopping 24 megapixels it may be small but it is mighty.
Pros: Only 14.6 ounces,
Cons: Does not have a touch screen, screen does not flip out or rotate (no selfies), limited touch noise control
Canon EOS Rebel
I really like the look and feel of this camera, it is a beginner camera with a professional feel.
Pros: Solid build, good battery life, high-def movie capture.
Cons: No sensor cleaning function, no spot metering, weak flash for an SLR
I may have looked into this one because you can pick it in different colours. I wouldn't love to have a pink camera!
Pros: Weather-sealed body that is unique to its price class, nice viewfinder, comes in different colours (this is a plus for me, ok?)
Cons: Image quality and performance doesn't match its competitors, shutter and lens makes a lot of noise
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1
Who doesn't want a retro looking camera? The small size of this one appeals to me, I have so much in my purse at the moment, adding a camera could send it over the edge.
Pros: Has Wi-Fi built into it, full HD recording, small size
Cons: On the pricier end, short battery life
Canon EOS 70D
This is a mid-level camera, but it is so fancy looking, I had to include it.
Pros: Auto focus, tilt-angle touch screen, great image quality
Cons: Expensive for a first camera, doesn't offer 100% field of view
So there are my top three! I am open to suggestions, if you have any, please leave below in the comments section.
